Scheduling calculations of the heatmap

Are you curious about how the Scheduling heatmap is calculated? Here is the technical description of both Planned Calculations and Actual Calculations.

There are two different types of scheduling heatmap calculations. On the company level, in your Admin settings, you can select either Planned Calculations or Actual Calculations. They make up the different allocations, e.g., Project Allocations and Task Allocations

Planned Calculation

Project Allocation projects are calculated based on the allocation hours over a period of time. This is constant for both past and future time in the heatmap.

Task Allocation projects are calculated based on the forecast of the task, e.g., the projected number of hours it will take to complete the task. This is also constant for both past and future time in the heatmap.

Non-Project time the calculations are based on non-project time allocations.

Actual Calculation

This calculation differs depending on the period you are viewing, e.g., past time or future time.

Note: Today is calculated with future time.

Project Allocation projects

Viewing past time: the heatmap number is calculated from registered hours.

Viewing future time: is calculated based on the allocation hours over a period of time.

Task Allocation projects

Viewing past time: the heatmap number is calculated from registered hours.

Viewing future time: is calculated based on remaining time of the tasks.

Non-Project time

Viewing both past and future time: the calculation is based on time registrations on non-project time allocations.
